June 7 Austin Texas lawmakers pressed a drive against dog track betting horse race bookmaking and other gambling. Fourteen bills were introduced to curb dog tracks bookmakers theater bank nights and all forms of gambling with provisions to seize gambling paraphernalia and transfer horses and jacks to county courts. The governor praised the pari mutuel betting bill and planned to sign a tougher anti gambling measure while inviting most senators to witness the signing, excluding Senator Clint Small who had moved a reconsideration.

W. P. Martin, an employee of Gulf Production, will be released from Worley hospital after treatment for second degree burns when a steam hose blew while he cleaned wrenches. He suffered burns to his right side and left arm. Johnny Hines of Shell Petroleum remains in Worley hospital after burns from a gas explosion triggered by a car backfire on the Hoffman Finley lease near LeFors, with deep burns on his left hand and arm.

Oil Worker Injured In Fall At Nabob Well Near LeFors
Alexander, an oil worker, was rushed by ambulance to Pamona-Jarratt hospital at noon after falling from a walking beam to the cellar of a Nabob Oil & Gas well about six miles east of LeFors.
