Drive Launched in Pampa Against Trash
A doubles barreled campaign to eliminate blind street intersections and educate the public on the city's trash and garbage collection ordinance was launched today by city officials City Manager Harold Schmitzer and Public Works Director R B Cooke said there are many violations in both areas in Pampa. The ordinance requires suitable receptacles for trash and limits container size to 10 to 69 gallons with metal or approved material and a tight lid weighing no more than 75 pounds including the container. Branches must be under five feet, no burning of trash in containers. Some readers notes show receptacles filled with concrete boards stones and other material not hauled away by city trash haulers. Best containers are one or two 35 gallon air drums on a stand to prevent tipping. The size of the container does not affect pickup charges as long as it stays under 60 gallons.
