County commissioners hope to contact federal Emergency Administration of Public Works officials soon after a Monday meeting. They seek guidance on loan terms under the act allowing up to 30 percent of highway costs, with states possibly receiving near 100 percent in some cases, for funding unsalable bond issues. The move faces delays as general rollout remains uncertain. Firefighters delayed high pressure water, allowing the blaze to break through walls. losses included posts hardware cement plaster roofing paper and crated goods estimated around three thousand dollars pending insurance adjustments. W. M. Craven cartridges exploded to reduce hazards.

The move followed Capitol Hill pressure to limit reductions in veterans’ allowances, with Senate action capping cuts at 24 percent and increasing government outlays by about 170 million dollars annually. Roosevelt warned that if that action stood, higher taxes would be needed to balance the budget.
In Risen Arkansas on June six a band of five to seven heavily armed men, believed fleeing Kansas convicts, attempted to kidnap Deputy Sheriff W A Fore and two others. Citizens patrolled after alarms, a car with Oklahoma plates fled, and the abducted men were later released on the highway following a chase by Pine Bluff officers that failed to overtake the band.
Washington June 6 The senate vampire investigating J P Morgan and company decided today to ask additional power to inquire into stock transactions of the firm partners affecting their income tax returns In a two hour closed session it was agreed not at present to go into the income tax matters being pressed to Pecora committee counsel The committee adopted a resolution to go ahead with other phases of the inquiry while a subcommittee drafts a proposal enlarging its powers to be presented to the senate The resolution was offered by Senator Glass D Va and Chairman Fletcher said it was supported by Pecora The counsel for the inquiry has sought especially to bring out income tax reducing transactions carried through by Thomas Lamont William Ewing and Harold Stanley of the Morgan partnership
Three transcontinental motorists traveling from Long Beach California to Corona New York were robbed of money and belongings by two men near Jericho Texas. Victims were Mr. and Mrs. Willa Donnelly Jr. and Alfred Baxter, with Eva Smith from Alabama undergoing surgery at Worley hospital.
