The Wheat Harvest Office in Amarillo reports late week rains failed to aid dry land wheat across Texas. Wet fields hold up harvesting in North Central Texas and the Panhandle, but sunshine expected soon should bring Panhandle harvesting to full speed. Love Not Cooled By 3 Hour Dunk
A 32 year old woman fell from a boat into Benbrook Lake during an argument with her husband. Her 9 year old son jumped in with life preservers and both were rescued after about three hours in the water. She described a dispute over baiting a fish hook and said the husband drove away claiming to get cigarettes, denying the charges but later saying he feared being tricked. The woman did not press charges but said she still loves him.

Debris found in the Gulf of Alaska is linked to the missing four engine military Air Transport Service plane Flight 293 with 101 aboard. Six Texans including a family of four were passengers. Negroes Are Admitted to Texas A&M College
Three Negroes were admitted to Texas A&M College breaking the 92 year color barrier under a policy to admit qualified students regardless of race. Vernell Jackson of Bryan and George Douglas Sutton of Fort Worth, Prairie View A&M graduates, will attend as National Science Foundation Students while Leroy Steling of Bryan, an undergraduate, previously attended Texas Southern University. Registrar H H L Heaton announced 2,675 students registered for the first summer session and women enrollment was expected to be similar to last summer.
