CARLSBAD New Mexico A Santa Fe Railway passenger train plunged into a washout last night in Southern New Mexico. One life was lost Engineer K P Shumate of Clovis was trapped and killed. Fireman R K Williams of Clovis was scalded and his leg broken. Four other crewmembers and a passenger were hospitalized for minor injuries. The washout followed cloudbursts sweeping scattered sections of New Mexico. In the north flash floods ripped down Carrizozo Canyon near Cimarron.
Funeral services were held in Huntsville for J. Robert King, Sr. of Huntsville, a leading state druggist who died Sunday night in a Houston hospital at age 83. He started in Waco and moved to Huntsville in 1896, with his son J. Robert King, Jr. taking over the business recently.
Jurors to try Armo Spears for the October death of restaurant cook Robert L. Wallace resume here today. Six jurors were qualified yesterday including Ted Thompson L G Yarborough W T Taylor Barron Wadley George Vannaman and T E Stewart.

The Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association backs a new Senate bill defining the Federal Power Commission powers over natural gas gathering and sale to interstate pipelines.
