Grow Boys Grow The Western Beard Contest Opens

The Lions Club sponsors the Western Beard Contest during Western Week in Page Arizona. Entries require a card from officials or Richard M. Blake and must be recorded, then grow until April 30 with judging at 7:00 PM at the Empire House rodeo headquarters. The event promotes Page as the Biggest Little Town in Arizona with Western spirit.

Bids Open First Bullfrog Phase

The National Park Service invites bids for the initial Bullfrog Basin recreational facilities at Lake Powell. Bids due March 16 in Santa Fe New Mexico, with completion 120 days after award. Project includes a steel pontoon boat dock with 10 slips and a Wahweap swimming float, plus shops for fishing tackle and boat services. Additional motels and restaurants planned for later construction.

Sand Devils Shine in District Basketball Tournament

The Sand Devils played well at the District Tournament in Williams on February 25 26 and 27. Arthur Hall scored 37 points to set a school record in the 65 52 win over Williams. The team then edged Tuba City 63 61 on Friday afternoon before Pagetang continuation.

The Interior Department reports progress against illegal diversions by squatters along the Lower Colorado, with 11 cases sent for court action and about 150 active cases remaining.
