Lake Powell publicity sparks debate over dam propaganda

The Page Chamber of Commerce event featured Floyd Dominy defending a Bureau of Reclamation booklet titled Lake Powell, Jewel of the Colorado, as pro development propaganda. He argued the publication aims to show dams on the Colorado River will enhance accessibility and beauty, countering recent criticism by Rep. John Saylor. Dominy displayed color photos and helicopter views from Glen Canyon Dam to Phantom Ranch, illustrating how rising waters would reshape canyons.
