Chamber earns $50,000 grant to boost tourism
Luray Page County Chamber of Commerce received one of 35 Virginia Tourism Corp grants to increase visitation and revenue. The $50,000 grant requires a $100,000 local match funded from existing marketing reserves. Governor McDonnell praised the program as tripling marketing power to attract tourists.

Local schools extend free meals for eligible students
Page County Public Schools will subsidize reduced breakfast and lunch costs starting January 3, with meals provided at no charge to eligible students. The program, funded independently of the district budget, was approved December 12. About 1,870 students in Page County were eligible in 2010-11, with 1,594 qualifying for free meals and 276 for reduced meals.

H. Carter Myers III, great great grandson of Shenandoah founder William A. Milnes Jr., presented a $2,000 Ambassador Gift to the Shenandoah Heritage Center at a Stevens Cottage reception.
