Canopy Lodge 50th Anniversary Draws Large Local Crowd
One of the biggest crowds at Canopy hall attended Tuesday evening for the fiftieth anniversary of Canopy Lodge No. 290, Oxford, Iowa. The day included a program with Prof. Bohumil Shimek, duets, solos, and toasts, followed by a two course dinner for about 300. A brief lodge history traced its founding on June 7, 1871 and noted initial meetings in the northwest corner of an old hotel. Out of town guests left early due to threatening weather, but many stayed to enjoy evening dancing.
