A British Guiana bush poses a deadly maze for outsiders. D Banner man Clarke notes only a handful of white men entered the interior, while natives navigate by a secret tree marking language. He explains signs reveal party size, direction, and passage times, making survival for a tenderfoot unlikely. The piece ends with a magazine query about what home means, contrasting home with candid talk about food.
