Deadly hurricane devastates Corpus Christi area

University of Mississippi Opens With Record Student Body

The University of Mississippi begins a new session with one of the largest student bodies in years. October 15 Club Day at Oxford announces county show

Oxford Mississippi September 15 1919 to Club Members is issued urging corn and pig clubs to prepare for the October 15 county show. Members must submit complete record books and eleven car exhibits for corn and pig entries with prizes including a registered pig and farm implements.

Destructive Flood Wrecks Hotels and Spahn Sanitarium

Waves and driving rain battered the coast as the Spahn Sanitarium sheltered 35 patients who were rescued. North Beach public health hospital remains open for 250 refugees, while the Nueces Hotel suffered extensive damage with four foot water in the lobby. The Pavilion Hotel washed away with Mrs. Baker the sole known fatality.
