The Senate passed an eight hour workday bill for interstate railroads beginning New Year’s Day with pay kept at current rates. Exemptions apply to some electric and local roads. A three member commission will study effects, due in six to nine months, with a report to Congress within a month after. Fines and possible imprisonment set for violators.
