Washington declares open warfare on mail bandits as 1000 United States marines are sent to guard mail trains trucks and post offices in 15 cities. They will be armed and may be ordered to shoot to kill to deter looting.
A surprise wedding occurred Monday at noon in Oxford. Bride Adine Pennington of Birmingham arrived on the 11 10 train and wed Claude Baxter at Mrs. Denie Butler Hamilton’s Mill Street boarding place with Rev. J A Christian officiating. Baxter works with Blair contractors at the university. The couple will reside with Mrs. Hamilton in Oxford.

Miss Irene Crouch is guest of her aunt Mrs Iva Purvis.
