The Senate approved the naval appropriation bill by a 26 to 39 vote, funding about 134 million dollars and adopting two key amendments. J L Osborne of Huntington agreed to jump from a bridge and swim 150 feet for five dollars. He completed the jump but was sucked under a dam and drowned, leaving a widow and three children.
