Miss Belle Kearney, a nonpartisan candidate for the United States Senate, spoke for about an hour and a quarter to a full court room audience. She denounced Senator Vardaman and Hubert D. Oxford Building and Loan Association Forms New Company

The Oxford Building and Loan Association has organized with capital stock of $50,000, $40,000 subscribed, and a $1,000 loan made. The company began business on the 15th with a strong officer slate and Miss Mildred Murray from the First National Bank elected secretary.

Autos Meet On North St in Head On Collision

A Ford roadster driven by Green and a Ford touring car driven by Latham collided head on on North Street near Mrs. Thompson’s residence. Both cars were damaged with minor injuries to all aboard including Mrs. Sims and her young son. Responsibility equally shared for repairs.

Mrs R Eades Dies Suddenl y

Mrs. R R Eades age 71 died suddenly at home on University avenue Wednesday morning of heart trouble after a night of normal health. Widow of R R Eades, she leaves five children, four daughters and a son, plus a brother, a sister and a sister-in-law. Funeral is not yet scheduled but expected Friday services here.

Crater Blast Ignores Firefighting Near Eldorado

A 200 foot crater blew out at the Wild Murphy gas well ten miles north of Eldorado Arkansas on May 16. The main well, producing over 75 million cubic feet of gas daily, ignited after the crater formed, wrecking the derrick and forcing the crew to flee. Gas leaks filled nearby water wells as multiple geysers sparked and burned, mirroring a past Constantine incident with fatalities.

Invitations for the Oxford High School seniors, ordered months ago, have arrived after a misunderstanding of the orders. Friends will understand why invitations arrived late to the graduation exercises scheduled for May 22.

Woman's Book Club Disbands After Summer Meeting

The Woman's Book Club, led by Mrs. Bondurant, held the final summer gathering on Tuesday discussing American Whitanthropist. Officers were elected for the next year starting in September and a pleasant afternoon with refreshments provided by the hostess.
