At the Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco Beachey fell from about 7000 feet during a sensational perpendicular drop. His monoplane’s wings collapsed and plunged into the bay as thousands watched. Beachey, was known for aerial stunts and aimed to thrill a crowd of about 50 000.
Washington and Carranza exchange notes over the Vera Cruz and Progreso ports. Carranza advisers signal U S determination to open closed ports by force if needed. The Des Moines was ordered to keep the port open and the Zaragoza blockade gunboat was recalled. Two U S ships cleared without interference.
The German cruiser Prinz Eitel Friedrich undergoes repairs at Newport News under naval supervision as the United States neutrality board endorses the work to keep the vessel seaworthy. Washington reports that John B. McManus, a prominent American in Mexico City, was shot in his home during clashes between evacuation of Obregon and Zapata troops. A British house was looted and about 100 people injured as tensions rose. The United States demanded punishment for McManus' murder and reparations for his family.
The Tennessee Court of Appeals affirms the will of Edward J. Halley executor Abe Goodman. The state had sought escheat of a 240000 estate traced to hidden 155000 in cash found by Johanna Madden. In Redding California near Bells Vista five months premature four babies two boys and two girls named McKnight were born to Mr and Mrs C O McKnight. The infants reportedly weigh between one and a half and three pounds and are said to be healthy though small. Mrs McKnight is 40 years old and weighs 105 pounds.

The German cruiser Dresden was sunk near the Juan Fernandez Islands after five minutes of battle with the British squadron led by HMS Glasgow. The crew were rescued with 15 wounded and German forces landed at Valparaiso. No British casualties or damage reported. Dresden had escaped earlier battles off the Falklands.
The French war office reports numerous favorable actions including effective bombardment near Lombaertzyde, a repulsed German attempt to recapture a fort, British recapture of St Eloi, gains in Arras trenches, and pushes in Champagne and the Argonne. In America, Mrs. John D Rockefeller dies at Poncantico Hills after long illness. Laura Celestia Spelman Rockefeller, born Sept 9, 1839, is noted.
Rev. William T Manning of Trinity Church denounces divorce as the shameful lever of the rich and well to do. He argues the poor man cannot afford divorce and follows sensational examples in the papers, deserting his home as the wealthy do by legal means.
London war office announces a heavy enemy counter attack repulsed with several minor counter-attacks. It notes losses near 10,509 men within three days and reports a train at the Donmaljon blown up by our forces.

The Boy Scouts organized here by William B Hamilton were invested March 13 at the Air dome gaining full rights of the national Boy Scouts of America. The Campfires, a girls group, formed with 15 members led by Mrs J J Wilson as guardian, plans to grow to 30 members and wear khaki uniforms with home made outfits and long hikes planned when weather allows.
State Sunday School association schedules a meeting in Tupelo from April 7 to 9. Every Sunday school in the state, from the stone structure to the little brown church in the wildwood, is expected to send delegates, with attendance determined by the schools' numerical strength.

C W Evans of the prairie West Lowndes county sent nine head of Hereford cattle in three cars. Federal tick inspectors examined the herd and issued a free bill of health from tick infestation. The cattle were fed on ensilage alfalfa and other Evant plantation crops.
The Magnolia grand jury reported and was discharged with the court's thanks after a three day session. It examined seven witnesses, returned 18 true bills, ignored seven cases and referred four to justices of the peace. Shaw section notes a house fire at Mrs. J C Marker's home, a two story frame building almost collapsing before flames were controlled, occupants escaping with minimal possessions.
