Potter Arrests for Mississippi Killing to Be Returned

Jonx Potter a white man who killed a negro in Terrill County Georgia seven years ago was arrested in Anniston Alabama and will be sent back to the scene. He had been living in Anniston for several years and was identified by an old acquaintance who alerted authorities. The Tradesman notes new industries and railroads in the South during the week ending June 7. Tur Harrison County White Caps lashed Walter Rowe for chickens, tying him to a tree and striking him. Rowe received seventy five lashes. The 7 year old daughter of Paducah officer Hommel was attacked by a mad cow and tossed in the air and the father had to fire to protect her. The girl is seriously injured. At Bessemer Alabama work began on a large car works expected to employ about two thousand men, led by iron king H F Debardeleben. A heavy hail storm hit western Noxubee County Mississippi on the 9th damaging crops. The Grand Jury of Hinds County Mississippi returned two true bills against Col. W L Hemingway former State Treasurer for embezzlement of 513,412.19.

Graduation Day at Naval Academy Honors and List of Cadets

The Naval Academy held its June graduation with diplomas delivered by Admiral Kimberly. Cadets marched to the chapel, received diplomas, and cheered for Admiral Kimberly and supporters. A long list names graduates by state and status, including Thomas F. Rubin Tennessee and Lawrence Spear Ohio, among others. The Engineer Division and the June ball followed in the armory with decorations and cannon accents.

Cloud burst washes out bridges and rail line in Breoohurst

A cloud burst near Breoohurst Ontario on Thursday afternoon swelled the creek to river size, washing away six bridges and nearly all mill dams in the township. The railroad was washed out severing rail communication.
