W H L Klensmier, 64, German farmer from Holton Kansas, was arrested in Kansas City Kansas after his wife was found murdered near their home. He confessed to hiding the body in a straw and burying it, claiming she died by suicide after an argument over land sale.
In St Joseph Missouri on a Saturday night A E Walker fatally shot Owen Leven a young beetman from Arkee Missouri who was courting Miss Jessie Walker at her home. Logan a Sheriff Collins nephew was wounded and rushed to the Walker residence where the shooter surrendered.
Fire destroyed seventeen houses including all businesses in Jasper, Texas, leaving a burned ruin. Robbers had blown open the post office and county treasurer safes before igniting the flames, aiming to cover the burglary and vanish. Loss estimated at 160000 dollars. thieves fled the scene.
