Post office and county officials took a holiday on Deoration Day with many counties men using the day off. Postmaster C A McWharen and Jno Woodward with others traveled by car to Oakland while Dr T Whitehead and H C Wiley joined a train trip. Groceries advertised at reduced prices, with lemons at 10 cents per chosen at the Co operative store in Oxford.

Massive Southern Preparedness Parade Planned in Memphis
Memphis plans the South’s largest Preparedness Parade on June 1 with about 40 000 marchers, sixteen abreast across a five mile line led by Confederate Veterans and National Guard units. The event, a half holiday, includes 50004 flags, invitations to Southern states, and telegraphic invites to President Woodrow Wilson and state governors.
