Davis Heron, is under death sentence in Cor es for teaching Christianity. Law J. Winses appointed storekeeper and cashier at Knoxville, Tenn. Free-Will Baptist preacher Discas convicted of murdering his wife and eloping. sentenced to death by hanging. Jamcurr Jonge Teee2it of the Second District of Mississippi fixed August 1 for term of court to try Sullivan-Kilraim fight participants. North American Salt Company organized with capital $11,000,000 controlling two works. Canadian Northwest doors and Dakota line in bad shape. farmers destitute. Labor Congress at Paris urges opposition to material monopolies and trusts. calls for organization. Steamer St Nicholas with 40 excursionists hit a closed drawbridge at Savannah on the 21st, destroying forward part and killing some, injuring others.

Foreign powers including Britain Spain and France gather in the harbor as Hippolyte Kneebing's forces attack outworks and villages. The war minister orders executions and locals fear foreigners face extermination.
A Montreal peddler in St Cuthbert near Can. shot two intruders after they threatened a 15 year old girl during a robbery attempt. The man also killed his assailants with a revolver then alerted a neighbor. The incident sparked shock and a linked note on prison strikes in Boston and a fatal domestic murder near Morse Wisconsin.

In Brewton Alabama an Iowa man identified as Gaston entered Harold Bros and Scott sawmills and hurled himself onto a large circular saw, dying instantly. Papers show his Iowa home and a broken engagement with Miss Sorith of Does Moines, unclear motive.
A white convict named Wells, working on the Kentucky Millan railroad between Georgetown and Paris, Ky, escaped a guard-house and hid at a farm house. He obtained a change of clothes, but when pursued near a toll gate on the Paris pike a mile from Georgetown, he bolted. A guard fired, delivering seven buckshot to his back and killing him instantly.
A New Orleans report lists fifteen hundred names including reporters and spectators from the Sullivan Killsin fight link to Mississippi authorities. A Jackson correspondent sought Governor Lowry’s stance on possible prosecutions but the governor declined interview, suggesting he may comment later and calling the report possibly exaggerated.
Postmaster Gray of Gaic Lamar County Alabama was shot and killed by a man later identified as Barrows the Arkansas train robber who escaped. Gray described a discarded package to a man named Barrows who asked about contents and then shot him threatening to shoot Mrs Gray and her sister. Also in Kentucky an elderly woman is jailed for threatening arson and poisoning a neighbor well claiming conjure as defense.
In Woerrier twenty miles north of Birmingham four leading merchants were arrested by a United States marshal for selling liquor without license. Those detained were Martin Parler Oliver Parler Viogl Warneck and Jack Warneck.
