Mrs. D. A. Smith was found dead in bed with a pistol wound to the breast in the family room above a store. Authorities suspect suicide. her husband D. A. Smith, a prominent lumberman, had just left town and children were in the yard. The death appears instantaneous with the room locked from inside and the family coping with a sudden tragedy.
An enthusiastic meeting of the Business Men's league gathered Jackson and Clinton leaders to persuade the Jackson Country Club to locate on the gravel road between Jackson and Clinton. They discussed offers and the potential growth of a suburb and a continuous city along the road in the near future.
Gulfport officers had watched Eloise Nelms Dennis and Beatrice Nelms as possible missing sisters. The two women evaded observation during the night and apparently left by launch. Officials noted resemblance to descriptions but could not conclusively arrest them.

Reports claim 5 million dollars and 5000 armed men are ready to back a new revolt against the constitutionalist government in Mexico.
