J C Spence described as manager of the United States Realty association at Duluth Minn. was arrested in San Francisco on a Duluth police warrant for embezzlement. He was found ill with his wife and two children in a Sutter street private house and claimed ignorance of the warrant while traveling for health reasons.
London reports the king’s condition improving with a 11 o clock bulletin calling his majesty in all respects satisfactory and substantial improvement. Crowds dispersed after Buckingham Palace rejoiced as doctors expressed favorable opinions and Liverpool lit up in celebration.
London on June 28 was practically deserted as the expected procession day failed to materialize. Business was paralyzed by the bank holiday while crowds dispersed to the countryside or stayed home in perfect weather. Hotels remained busy though as cafes and restaurants buzzed with patrons.
Advices from Adis Abeba report Fitzhugh Whitehouse of Newport R I and Lord Hindlip arriving safely. They left England February 1 for an upper Nile expedition and have thus far enjoyed a successful journey. William Coats, 17, was arrested in St Joseph Missouri on suspicion of killing his mother whose decomposed body was found on a farm south of the city. Lord Hennikes, governor of the Isle of Man, who had suffered ill health for some time, died at the Isle of Man on Friday. He was born in 3942.
