Prof. Ernst Sellin reports excavations near Eriba Jericho between 2200 and 4300 years BC confirm a stronghold buried under debris. The 1700 by 600 feet fortress wall and 17 chambers yield ovens stone knives jars lamps and animal adorned ceramics. A damaged stone image and jar with Hebraic marks suggest early Canaanite familiarity with such inscriptions.
