In Peru Indiana yesterday afternoon saloonkeeper Charles E Netherly shot and killed Henry J Helmig a cripple after Helmig returned to the saloon with a cane and began breaking plate glass Netherly fired five times with his revolver and was arrested. Also reported death of Fraulein Kath Brandt in New York. she was grandniece of Richard Wagner and linked to the German stock company at the Irving theater.
Pretoria dated dispatch reports a British force surprised and captured a Boer laager 20 miles northwest of Ermer o. Six Boers were taken prisoner including M Wolmarens.
