A heavy steel safe containing 216 in money and valuables was stolen from the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific line near the Coon Valley mines six miles south of Des Moines Iowa. The robbers fled when the brakesman raised the alarm. a search party found the safe unopened half an hour later.
A Cantonment report says near Thorway a clash between vigilants and horse thieves left two vigilants Caskill and Syl Campbell wounded. Three horse thieves were captured and hanged by the vigilants without trial or jury, their bodies riddled with bullets.
