The battleship Indiana came back to Hampton Roads after a stormy sea experience off Hatteras. Turrets loosened during heavy weather prompted repairs, with Capt Evans replaced by Capt Taylor earlier. Navy officials say a new turret device improved strength and the ship will resume patrols soon.

Natebker remains unavailable as officers decline to comment amid the bank’s sudden halt. Directors include Thos Couch M Hyams Frank Kieptko and others with Wt Coprad as president.
Charles Koch, a Hayden's chain factory employee, was compelled to leave his forge after accusations he claimed relief for the unemployed and took groceries home. He refused to leave and was driven off amid egg throws and shouts of Get a rope. Koch owned his home.
Washington County circuit court action confirmed as Detectives Brown and Seaton of Louisville Kentucky are convicted of murder in the 61st degree for shooting J M Rippey near Salem. The officers mistook Rippey for an escaped convict and faced danger at the scene. Union Pacific reorganization committee and Kansas Pacific bondholders meet to plan a new allotment. Mrs Standford widow of the late ex senator has arranged the sale of over 500000 dollars worth of land. The properties include office ranches in Valifornia and 5.04 acres of fertile land valued at about 504000 dollars. The sale targets entire ranch units as a whole if possible while other Stanford properties belong to the university and cannot be sold.
