Captain W C Bates dies after long illness at 83
Captain W C Bates aged 83 died at his College Hill home after months of poor health. A Confederate Army captain, he lived in Holmes County and later Oxford. Funeral from the home followed by interment at St Peter's cemetery. Survived by five daughters and three grandchildren. wife preceded him fifteen years ago. The family receives many condolences.
