No Settlement In Sight In Colorado Mine Strike

Striking Miners Force Out Arrival from St Louis
In Coal Creek Tennessee on December 6 a group of 27 men who had come from St Louis to work in the mines were driven from town by about 500 striking miners. The St Louis men reportedly came from Colorado and said they did not know a strike was in progress. In Bloomington Illinois on December 7 Richard Thomas night foreman at the Chicago and Alton boiler shop killed himself with carbolic acid after a rejected marriage proposal.
