Vicksburg Special notes Gen. McKee at a Jackson gathering drew the color line and warned that the Republican party in Mississippi must be led by white men. He claimed negro domination would never return and that the party could do without black votes, prompting tense reactions from attendees.

A regional Immigration Convention, set for Montgomery Alabama on the 2th of the month, gathers fifteen states and two territories. John N Wiley's undivided one fifth interest in river land at the county in Mississippi is to be sold at public auction by P. E. Matthews sheriff and J H Kimmons attorney under an exception from W E Andrews clerk of the Viresit court. The sale to satisfy judgment and costs occurs Monday January 7 1559 at the courthouse door in Oxford during legal hours for cash to the highest bidder.
