Reports say United States Steel Corporation has made advances toward acquiring Tennessee Coal and Iron Company and allied Southern mills. Negotiations reportedly under way for the past year aim to bring southern iron and steel works under US Steel control. Details remain unconfirmed by official quarters.
Memphis Aug 11 a special train carrying 600 Knights Templars bound for the triennial conclave at Louisville will pass August 24. A Dallas report says Willie White was killed and Sallie Walker fatally wounded in a double shooting last night with a suspect not yet identified.
San Francisco police arrest Jon Winters alias Buck Taylor in connection with the $400000 Selby smelter robbery at Vallejo. Detectives note a cabin warning, a darkened window, and recovered items matching evidence from the mine tunnel and smelting works.
