Adjutant General Says Guard Encampment Will Be Largest

Seven Burned To A Crisp In London Hotel Fire

A blaze at the London hotel in San Angelo Texas started at 2 am and destroyed the building. Seven people died including Mrs Landon Ed Hendrick Mra Fowler and her grandson Mrs Schulimsky and two sons. Three others remain missing but believed safe. The fire also consumed three stables and several stores while 75 guests escaped.

Neapolitan fish dealer murdered by Sicilian in Mulberry Street

Petrica Guardiana a Neapolitan fish dealer and Brooklyn resident was killed on Mulberry Street when 22 year old Antonio Zirotoli stabbed him in the jugular after a street fight. The victim’s wife and relatives witnessed the tragedy as riots broke out and police reserves were deployed. Zirotoli was later arrested.

County Judge Ed Smith Killed in Texas Shooting

In Columbia Texas on a Saturday night County Judge Ed C Smith was killed and Deputy Sheriff Cochran Willis wounded as a group of Negroes resisted an arrest. Willis was shot in the arm and Judge Smith died from a spine wound after about 50 shots were fired. The suspects escaped by swimming the Brazos River. The sheriff asked the governor for assistance.
