Captain Rostron describes guiding the Carpathia to the Titanic survivors, rescuing 705 people and recovering four crew members. He denies receiving a message from President Taft and asserts no shooting occurred aboard the Titanic’s aftermath. He praises his crew and reflects on the peril and urgency of the rescue.
Ada Clark, wife of a Titanic casualty, describes waking to a crash and remaining in her berth. Ruth Becker and her three children were rescued after being placed in a lifeboat with other survivors. Becker notes they stayed aboard until rescue at dawn.

Depths reach up to fifteen feet in Lobdell Dahomey and Benoit with four to six inch daily gains. many areas inundated three to four feet. Drowned Negroes feared. a prominent white woman died in the flood. women and children evacuated to Greenville as relief work proceeds at the levee office.
Rescue parties push inland as waters rise amid twelve miles of flood north of Boyle. People in gins and huts suffer with little to eat since displacement. Alarm spread from Skene on the Peavine railroad as northern settlers face rapid flooding and possible drownings within twenty four hours.
In Washington the army relief effort grows daily as flood crests move toward the ocean. More than 70,000 people are fed daily across districts from Hickman Kentucky to Natchez Mississippi. Medical and Red Cross teams plan campaigns to clean flood areas and prevent disease until homes can be rebuilt.
The state treasurer turned $20,000 from the Parehman farm cotton sales into the state treasury. The report says last year’s cotton crop may yield little this year as fields near Parchman are underwater and plowing is impossible for weeks.
Mississippi communities report progress with paved streets as Tupelo moves to spend 650,000 on street paving after costly dirt streets. An annual bond interest plan of 6,242 dollars is proposed as cheaper long term. Brooksville plans 7,500 dollars for a water works system. Jones County seeks 10,000 dollars in bonds for an agricultural high school addition to county facilities.
Reports from Yazoo County allege wanton deer and game slaughter during high water. Sheriff Stricklin and County Attorney Reed urge citizens to report violators to prosecutions. Most killings attributed to whites amid poor conditions.
Report says Enoch Brothers of Fernwood and Jackson now own 12 miles of railroad ending near W. S. Tatum and extending toward Columbus. Their company also owns a line from Tylertown toward Columbia, about 10 or 12 miles, leaving a 30 mile gap between terminals. A link is widely expected soon.

Acting under a house resolution the pension commissioner seeks records from chancery clerks for the board of pension inquiry in each county. He will require names and addresses of all pensioners to purge the rolls, aiming to remove those drawing more than entitled.
Prof Frederick E Triebel in New Orleans obtaining bronze carvings from Italy for the Vicksburg National Military Park monument. After delivery, work will speed toward completion and a summer dedication is planned.
