Meridian Mississippi reports the flood halting all five railroads entering the city. The Alabama Great Southern transfers mail at Narkeeta Creek where a bridge was swept away. Officials warn traffic may resume north of Meridian tomorrow, while southern lines face longer outages possibly eight to ten days as Pearl River rises and workers remain scarce.
Pearl River in Jackson Mississippi rose five feet in twelve hours flooding the water works two miles below the city. The pumping station walls and a thirty foot circular pit housing pumps were washed away. Water is within three feet of the bridge floor and rising. Repair impossible until flood subsides. a boiler team mobilizes on the river bank. City water likely unavailable until Tuesday. reports say many cattle perished in the flood.
Floods in the eastern portion of Rutherford County and Cannon County cause extensive damage. In Rutherford’s Eighteenth district it is believed that farmer Will Adams his wife and five children have perished after neighbors heard crying for help Saturday night. No further trace has been found.

In Cincinnati and nearby Covington Newport the lockout ends as brewers meet late yesterday to rehire men as possible. The report notes unions and strikes across Des Moines and Columbus with education bill passage and plasterers striking for wage raises, involving about two hundred workers.
