The Republican voters of the county will meet on Saturday January 22 1898 at 1 pm in their townships and precincts to elect one county central committee member each. The committee will meet January 24 at the Fowler courthouse to elect a chairman vice chairman and provide for a secretary and treasurer. Delegates and alternates to the 16th congressional district convention in Lafayette February 1 1898 will also be chosen with Benton county allotted ten delegates and ten alternates with specific township apportionment. The district convention will elect a county at large delegate from the township with the largest excess of votes above 200 in 1896.
