Local residents travel between Pierce Colorado and Boswell Indianapolis and Lafayette with social calls and family visits. The Ruth Circle raised about 23 dollars in a Burns building exchange. The high school glee club staged an operetta The Pennant with Miss Ida Mann directing, earning a neat sum and praise for the cast and production.
Our Busy Ladies Aid will stage a church entertainment at the opera house on Friday evening April 10 at 8 30 under the U B church Ladies Aid. Will T Bingham wrote the piece for churches and Otterbein’s best talent will perform in verse and song. Directed by Mrs T C Tussey of Columbus Ohio, reserved seats 35 25 1 2c at Barns Davis drug store after April 8.
Dr Emma Martin spoke at the Missionary society of the M FE church during their bank offering service in W Lafayette yesterday. Margaret Maddox and Beulah Smith arrived Saturday morning for a week long vacation before resuming studies at Oxford Ohio.
A moot court was held in the high school assembly room with Paul Ward as defendant accused of loitering in a barber shop. The Alethans defended Ward, while the Cleonians acted for the plaintiff. The jury, including foreman R. H. Bolt, found Ward not guilty. the Alethean team triumphed. The German Medicine Co. closed its engagement, awarding prizes to Patsy Farrell, Wm Schwamberger, Jessie Tee, and Emma Bentler.

Ralph Lamb born in Boswell in 1889 grew to manhood in the community. He farmed in Henry County with a brother and later helped run a telephone system serving Ogden Dunreith Spiceland and Greensboro. He married Beulah Briscoe on January 17 1914. He died March 28 after bronchial illness from a former cold worsened by tuberculosis of the throat and appendicitis. He leaves wife and parents four brothers and one sister. Services were at Boswell Presbyterian Church with burial in Boswell cemetery. The burial was conducted by fraternal orders and local ministers.
The W C T U will meet next Wednesday April 8 with Mrs Erma Weigle to discuss Medical Temperance and expect good attendance. Snyder the Oxford photographer plans to open a gallery in Otterbein and offers excellent work. Elmer S McKinney advertises the Belgian stallion John Burns for the 1914 season at his Otterbein residence.
