Machinery Sets Up To Cool Marina Disputes
The Kansas Park and Resources Authority approved a dispute resolution procedure for marina operators and boat dock lessees on state lakes. Lessees can first appeal to the director then to the board before court. The rule follows a Wilson Reservoir dispute where four lessees sought relief after lease terminations. The board also delayed land purchase actions near Sand Hill State Park to gauge local interest and potential funding, following a $480,000 federal grant for park expansion.

Topeka Kansas attorney general Curt Schneider asks the state Supreme Court to reinterpret the 1948 open saloon prohibition. John R. Martin argues the common meaning forbids liquor sales in public places and opposes allowing restaurants to serve liquor under a 50 percent food sales rule.
