Old Farmer's Almanac predicts frigid East mild West for 1983
The 191-year-old almanac forecasts a cold East and a mild West due to winter conditions. Weatherwise cautions El Chichon eruption could alter forecasts, as the April 4 event occurred after press time. Almanac claims 80 percent accuracy and notes historical wartime secrecy and prior weather successes.
