The program by Extension Program Planning and Development Committee showcased diverse arrangements including edible and craft pieces. High Franklin County 4-Hers shine at Kansas State Fair
Four H members from Franklin County excel in State Fair events in Hutchinson. The home improvement judging team placed fifth among 101 teams, behind Marion, Grant, Cowley and Sherman counties, with members Kandee Wray Karen Chandler and Julia Montague. Gene Van Horn and Ralph Thompson tied for fifth in tractor operators with 1,112 points. Joann Rich earned a blue in dog show fitting and showing while Jeanne Hull won a blue in the style revue.

Capsule sealed on Sergeant Missile at Kansas State Fair
A time capsule containing microfilmed Kansas life was sealed behind the 34 foot Sergeant Missile at the Hutchinson State Fairground to be opened in 40 years during the 2013 fair. Rambling Ranchers 4-H Club members and families spent a day at Worlds of Fun on Saturday. Expenses were paid from money earned by the members through 4-H activities. Forty six of sixty three members qualified to attend and the group ended the day with pizza in Olathe.
