Elks golf tourney to aid veterans in October
The second Elks Lodge 803 veterans golf tournament is set for October 13 at Hickory Hollow. Four person scramble with 40 per player or 160 per team, includes a cart. Registration closes October 6. Edwards penalized after Dover inspection shock to Chase standings
Carl Edwards was docked 25 points after his race winning car failed post race inspection at Dover International Raceway. The penalty drops him from third to sixth in the Chase, leaving him 28 points behind leader Jeff Gordon. Team owner Jack Roush also loses 25 owner points and crew chief Bob Osborne is fined $25,000. Edwards' No. 99 Ford was found too low. NASCAR said the infranction was not intentional. Roush plans an appeal as Geoff Smith questions the severity for a Chase contender.
