Frantic Fran Comes Through in NFC Central Thriller
The Minnesota Vikings beat the Chicago Bears 24-20 as Fran Tarkenton’s air attack and a late Bears rally kept the division race tight. Tarkenton connected with Sammy White for a 33 yard score early, while Walter Payton’s run and Bob Thomas field goals kept Chicago within reach before Foreman sealed a late drive. The win evened Minnesota’s record at 2-2 while Chicago rose to 3-1, sharing the division lead with Green Bay.
