Overseas Duty Of 69th To Be In Small Chunks
In Topeka Army Secretary Stan Resor told Gov. Docking that only a few 69th Brigade members will be called for overseas duty each month. About 14 of roughly 4,000 guardsmen had been activated by Aug. 1. Calls will be on individual basis by specialty, not as a unit. Docking plans a visit to Ft Carson to ease fears among families. Resor denied plans to ship the 69th as a unit and said replacements will enter as others go. The 69th was placed in strategic reserves and selected for readiness and training prior to activation.
