Latimer Aims For National Triathlon Title This Weekend
Susan Latimer of Ottawa prepares to compete in Hilton Head Island South Carolina in the U S Triathlon Series National Championship. After years as a spectator her husband Mike inspired her to train and race joining former mentor Robbie Van Pelt in launching a new athletic chapter. Latimer recalls her first Garnett Triathlon in 1984 as petrifying but rewarding highlighting her emergence as a serious endurance athlete.

Olathe North defeated Ottawa High 14 to 8 in overtime after an 8-8 regulation tie. Ottawa scored first on a 4-yard run by Ron Sylvester, Vance Finch added the two point conversion, and Dan Gast was noted for strong defense. Memorial services for Dee Erickson, longtime OU and Washburn coach and NAIA founder, were set for Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel.
