Dallas AP Bob H Slaughter of Southern Methodist University is mounting an 80 million year old plesiosaur found in early April near Dallas. The 25 foot sea creature with fins lived in a seaway linking the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Northwest. The remains were found in a drainage ditch excavation near the regional airport being built between here and Fort Worth.
H J Jim Yount vice president of the Kansas Federation of Labor AFL CIO says labor will press its message in rural Kansas to save farm families. He notes a six city tour drew 300 attendees in Dodge City Concordia Great Bend Hutchinson Phillipsburg and Hays with October meetings planned in Troy Fort Scott and Crestline. He stresses coalitions of farmers labor teachers and youth and says merchants initially balked but labor sees small towns as key customers and a stake shared by rural communities.
