De Lorean charged in $8.9 million investor fraud case
DETROIT AP Auto entrepreneur John Z De Lorean faces a 15 count federal indictment charging racketeering mail fraud wire fraud interstate transport of stolen money income tax evasion and false tax returns related to the De Lorean motors collapse. The crimes allegedly began in 1978 with funds funneled through Pierson Bank Amsterdam and Panamanian GPD Services Inc and included loan repayments and personal expenditures. Arraignment set for Sept 27 with possible penalties up to 20 years per racketeering count.
