A Princeton community meeting and teacher social is set for September 21 at 8 p m in the school auditorium. Families should bring cupcakes and seventh and eighth grade mothers will serve refreshments.
Lewis R. Jennings, 69, died yesterday at the Veterans Administration hospital in Kansas City where he had been a patient two weeks. Born in Anthony, Kansas, he lived in Kansas City 40 years before moving to Ottawa a year ago. He retired from Gernes Garment Co and belonged to Central Christian church. Survived by two daughters Ruby Lee Brockmeier of St. Louis and Pauline Heath of Kansas City, two brothers Charles E. Jennings of Ottawa and Clark Jennings of Portland, Ore., and one sister Ada Edington of Ottawa. Funeral Friday at 2:30 p.m. at New comer chapel. Burial in Forest Hill cemetery.
Funeral services for Addie Bell Lassen who died September 16 were held September 19 at Towner's Chapel with Rev Wayne Hollins officiating. Pallbearers named. Burial in Clinton Kansas cemetery. Also funeral services for Dr F M Eoff who died September 15 were held September 18 at Towner's Chapel with Rev Charles P Knight officiating. Pallbearers listed. Al Williams sang hymns. Burial in Highland cemetery.

Garden City based Southwest Kansas Television Inc has signed the first contract toward building KTVC near Montezuma with Western Power and Light Co of Dodge City to supply power. Leigh Warner of Cimarron says a tower could be finished by December though the tower contract is not yet signed. A tentative construction and well drilling agreement exists. Talks continue with KTVH Hutchinson and KAKE TV Wichita to provide programs via microwave relay to KTVC, possibly drawing from both.
Garden City School Board will ask voters at the November 6 election to approve a $550,000 bond to fund a seven classroom school and fifteen additional rooms at an existing grade school. Dr. LeRoy Hood, superintendent, announced the plan.
About 25 000 meat workers walked out in 37 cities crippling Swift and Co operations. Unions demand a substantial wage increase and a union shop, while talks have stalled. In Kansas City, about 1 800 workers vote on joining the nationwide walkout already active in 26 states.
Topeka announces Marjorie Strother Fetty as publicity assistant. Fetty, a Southwestern College alumna and graduate of Washburn University, has news staff experience at Winfield Daily Courier and Wichita Eagle and led publications at the Institute of Logopedics in Wichita.
In Pikeville Kentucky twenty annoyed housewives took to shovels and picks to repair Coburn Hollow road near Huddy. They aim to shame county officials after promising blacktop work but only partial completion. Lead organizer Mrs Landon Rutherford said they finished about a half mile and would return to begin the next mile.
Liberal Kansas voters will decide November 6 on a 60000 dollar bond issue to finance a 110000 dollar National Guard armory. The state would provide 50000 for construction and upkeep at the municipal airport where Battery B of the 161st Armored Field Artillery Battalion now uses an airport building.
Vice President Nixon campaigned in Idaho and Washington aiming to defeat Democratic incumbents Gracie Prost and Warren Magnuson. Shattuck and Langlie were named targets while Morse was urged into a lame duck status by Nixon, who urged Oregon voters to join.
U S airmen at the Bentworth fighter-bomber station plan a charity style golf contest October 14 to thank the local hospitality during their tour. They will award 19 trophies to amateur golfers and provide free gin and whisky from 7 30 a m until play ends.
Employees of Ottawa Steel honored for five and ten years of service at a Monday dinner at North American hotel. Ten year recipients included Ted Dorkins Fred Griffin Elmer Mills and Lawrence Ott. Five year honorees listed. Ed Johnson presented pins. Guests and performers featured organ piano music by Ruth and Dean Short, with guest speaker Guy Keeler from KU Bureau of Lectures and Concerts.
Typhoon Gilda took a new lease on life and an erratic course today in the eastern Philippines. It has left at least 1,000 homeless and caused extensive property and crop damage. No deaths were reported so far.
Sharon Kay Ritchie Miss America 1956 and Don Cherry singer and golfer obtained a marriage license yesterday. They plan to marry Saturday at Central Christian Church in Denver. Ritchie, a Colorado Woman's College freshman, is the daughter of Forest A. Ritchie of Grand Island Nebraska. Cherry hails from Wichita Falls Texas.
Joe Smith after 43 years as a Republican registered as a Democrat this week in Greensboro North Carolina. He said he disliked the smug attitude of national Republicans seen on television. His wife Margaret also changed parties.
