County commission criticism over settlement and appraisals
Garnett critics grilled the Anderson County Commission at the September 8 meeting. George Clausen warned about an out of court settlement with George Hall while Joe McCarthy delivered a critical letter and offered officials a dollar with a tea bag, urging resignations. They attacked the Hall settlement, raised pay for County Appraiser Gary Stapp and pushed for the appraiser to be elected, and cited a Kansas Association of Counties scandal involving a director using a KAC credit card in Nevada. The panel approved an appraisal maintenance plan and a courthouse security plan.
