Spiro T. Agnew, Nixon’s vice president infamous for criticizing the media, died at 77 in Berlin Maryland after noon Tuesday of undiagnosed leukemia. His resignation in 1973 followed a tax evasion plea, ending a rapid climb from Maryland official to national power.
