Dozen Hijackers Force Airliner To West Berlin
Ninety nine people aboard a LOT Polish Airlines turboprop airliner were hijacked by nine men and three women armed with firebombs on a domestic flight in Poland. The jet landed at Templehof Airport in West Berlin where the hijackers surrendered and passengers were moved to the terminal for questioning.

Propane Fueled Wichita Police Car Explodes
A propane fueled Wichita police car exploded south of downtown injuring female traffic safety officer Kay Pierce. She was hospitalized with second and third degree burns after reporting the fire on police radio. The car ran off the road struck a fence and blew up following a propane refill. Police officials investigated at the scene.
