Taxes due for revision regardless of president

Washington AP report says tax code overhaul is planned next year regardless of which party controls Congress. House Ways and Means Chairman Wilbur Mills and potential Republican chair John Byrnes both favor a full scale review with weeks of hearings, targeting capital gains, estate and gift taxes, income splitting limits, foundations rules, and minimal income tax on higher earners to curb use of tax exempt bonds. The Treasury may propose changes after the November elections, but won’t seek broad abolition of the oil depletion allowance.
