Kansas Health Department overhaul eyed by state panel
The Kansas Legislative Council’s Public Welfare Committee proposed a major reorganization of the Kansas Health Department to improve access to services. The plan, costing about 187000, would shrink the Board of Health from ten to five members with at least three laypeople and shift many environmental and consumer protection roles into a reorganized department. It also calls for possible creation of a University dentistry school and for consolidating mental health duties in the department by 1975.
